Lucia Mancini
Hello, I’m Lucia. I was born and raised in the Mexican city of Hermosillo, located in the state of Sonora, where all of my family still lives. I moved to the U.S. to attend college at the University of Arizona in Tucson, where I received my degree in marketing. I’ve always had a love for design, though, so shortly after graduating I studied interior design and worked in that field as well as in visual merchandising. Now, I am happy to call California my home. I moved here four years ago, and I am embracing the Southern California lifestyle of eating healthy, working out, and enjoying the outdoors as much as possible. In my free time I love to go to the beach and do yoga. I’m not afraid to try and learn new things as long as I’m in a creative environment, so naturally I am thrilled to be a part of the team here at Virgil James. Don’t hesitate to give me a call or send me an email if you’re interested in learning more about our products.

Growing up in Mexico, I never thought...

I would end up living in any other country, but when I took a year after high school to study English in the U.S., I realized I never wanted to leave.

My first big trip was to...

London, alone, during a semester abroad in college. I instantly fell in love with the English countryside and the sheep that roamed there.

I'd like to learn how to...

surf. I got a surfboard for my birthday, so I’m planning on becoming a surfer girl. It’s never too late to learn new things!

I can't live without...

my iPhone. I don’t know how I was able to function without it before it was invented. I’m a borderline addict.

On a man I can't resist...

height. I am tall, so I like someone taller than me so hugs and strolls together don’t feel so awkward. On a less shallow note, I like someone with good values and who is family oriented. Luckily I found all of that in my husband.

I studied design because...

I realized I needed a creative outlet. I have a degree in marketing, but I always felt like I was missing something else.

I really don't understand why people can't...

be on time. Americans are great at it, but when I visit Mexico, I feel like I’m going to go crazy waiting on everyone.

I'd love to meet and have dinner with...

Mexican singer Luis Miguel. I’ve been a fan since I was 13. I went to all his concerts and I always managed to sit in the front row. He is not as popular anymore, but I think he is a great singer and would love to meet him.

When I really want to relax...

I take a walk on the beach. It doesn’t matter what’s on my mind or how tired I feel, it always makes me feel relaxed and energized.

Being part of a large family meant...

having 9 loud aunts to keep me entertained. I watched almost no TV growing up. Daily lunches with 10-plus people at the table always felt like a party.

My friends consider me...

random, loyal, funny and quirky.

An app I like is...

Instagram. I got it when it first started and it was only a filtering app. I consider myself a great iPhonographer (iPhone photographer), but I must confess that it's probably in part because of Instagram's filters and editing options. There is no excuse to take a bad photo when it can be edited so easily.

Growing up my favorite outfit was...

the classic jeans and a white shirt. It’s still my go-to outfit, but the style of jeans have changed through out the years…From high-waisted to low-waisted, bell bottoms, skinny, dark wash, light wash, ripped, and everything in between.

My biggest daily challenge...

is to be far away from my family. But my mom calls me every single day. Maybe that’s why I’m addicted to my iPhone; it’s my way of being connected to loved ones.

I'm inspired by...

nature. I look at the sky and the ocean, and feel like paining my bedroom the exact colors I see. I’m also inspired by travel. It’s like hitting the reset button in my brain, and new ideas always come up during or after a trip.

The best advice my therapist gave me was...

to live in the moment. It sounds so simple, yet it has changed my life for the better.

My favorite gift to give is...

to my family and close friends I like to give trips—especially ones in which I am included. I think experiences are better that material gifts.

I've always wanted to visit...

Greece. Ever since taking an architecture class in college, it’s been on my bucket list. I also want to visit Tahiti, Morocco and Istanbul.

I can't travel without...

my different face moisturizers and potions. Eyes, face, day, night, serums, sunscreen, toner, etc. I guess I can be high maintenance when it comes to skin care…

I'd characterize my personal style as...

easy going. Living in California, I only want to wear jeans and sundresses.
